ANGELS CHRISTMAS STORE OPENS FRIDAY OCTOBER 14, 2022. OPEN HOURS AND DAYS BELOW.

Please do not come by earlier, as the next step for the volunteers is to do final arranging, dusting, and sweeping and mopping the floors. We have started putting up the outside signs because the volunteers are available..

There is a new floor layout, and a lot of new wall shelving provided by Dwayne, the husband of a volunteer. It will now be easier to find smaller items, of which there are hundreds. It also cleared up several former tables. We thank him for this improvement.

Be prepared in the first few days to be asked to wait outside for a few minutes if there are too many people temporarily inside the store – to provide a pleasant shopping experience for everyone.

OPEN HOURS:

Fridays 9 AM to 5 PM

Saturdays 9 AM to 4 PM

A greeter named SnowWhite Bear will be sitting on a chair as you enter. If you look around, you will also find the cute Stinky the Skunk happy to join your family. In the front entry, look up on the top shelf to find a carousel music box. These items, of course, are subject to prior sale and there is only one of each, as it the case with almost all items.

The photos and these words can show only a few of the items available, so here is a listing to help you prepare a shopping list.

There is a limited number of decorated trees. Many choices of Christmas cards, wrapping paper, ribbons and bows, gift boxes, decorative bags, and tree ornaments.

You may want to decorate your house with gift stockings to hang over the mantle, holiday candles, seasonally decorated cups, and even several sets of decorated china.

Other house holiday cheer include cookie jars, a vertical rack of woven baskets, and miniature artificial trees for small kids to have their personal one.

Now let’s think about the gifts. There is a huge choice of beautiful girl dolls waiting to be adopted by your daughter or granddaughter, also for each family member huggable bears, and holiday clothing for all ages, as well as dozens of collectibles.

The Christmas Store is located on E Main St in Floyd VA (no mailing address), in the former Odd Fellows Lodge, which is next door to the Buffalo Hemp Company (located at 710 E. Main St in case you are using GPS on your cellphone or auto), on the opposite side of the street across from the CVS Floyd Pharmacy. Look for signs in front, and you can park on marked spaces at the street.

HALF PRICE SALE ON CLOTHES AND SHOES STARTS FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 2. 2022 IN THE ANGELS IN THE ATTIC STORE

This is a big deal because sales are rare at the Angels in the Attic Store. What we do not sell in this sale, in the way of summer clothes and shoes, must be packed up soon, and stored until spring, to make room for fall clothing. So, save yourself a bunch of money, while at the same time do a good deed by saving the volunteers from taking them off from the racks, then packing, moving, and storing the clothing.

Angels in the Attic fights inflation by dropping prices by 50%!! Cut your dollar in half (mentally) and you can buy twice as much.

There is plenty of hot weather left this summer, during September and into October, so those of you who snagged, wore out, mustard-stained, or tore your warm weather clothing, this is your last chance while the sale lasts until Saturday September 10.

The half-prices for summer wear at the Angels in the Attic Store will be so very low that you can afford to buy items to wear until the cooler weather arrives a couple more hot and humid months away. Then you will have them on hand when the warm weather returns around Easter time.

Angels in the Attic hours and days of operation:

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT ANGELS FURNITURE STORE, PART TIME

We need volunteers to help out on the charitable work for which Angels in the Attic exists, at the Angels Furniture Store located at 122 Needmore Lane in Floyd. Particularly on Fridays, but assistance is also needed on Tuesdays and Saturdays. We always ask you what you prefer to do, and what hours or days you prefer to assist.

What would you do? Greet customers, ask what they are looking for, show them the area in the Furniture Store where those items are located, and process payments for purchases. Also, to greet those who are donating furniture, point out the hand trucks so as to assist their bringing into the building chairs, tables, sofas, and medical equipment.

We do not expect you to lug furniture around by yourself, as there are dollies, hand trucks, and generally other volunteers are available to help as needed. We do not expect you to be there the full opening hours, as we often have split shifts of volunteers. We are flexible.

To become a volunteer, there are multiple ways to contact us:

1. Stop by the Angels Furniture Store when open (see below)

2. Send an email to angelsfloydinfo@gmail.com

GUITAR AVAILABLE AT THE ANGELS BOUTIQUE

It’s a Giannini, made in Brazil.

When we looked it up, it is valued at $1,500.00 and is priced by the Boutique at $400.

The Giannini brand was founded in 1900 by Italian lutheir Tranquilo Giannini in São Paulo, Brazil. Initially a small workshop building handmade guitars the company grew until by 1930 they were making thousands of instruments per year, and by 1940 making their own strings. The first Giannini electric guitars appeared in the 1960s. In 1969 they started making the unsually shaped Craviola guitar designed by guitarist Paulinho Nogueira. By 2002 Giannini had invested in the latest CNC machinery to build their current range of classical, steel string and Craviola acoustic guitars.

ANGELS IN THE ATTIC FIRST HALF 2022 FINANCIALS RELEASED

Our organization is officially known as Floyd County Angels Ministry, Inc, a non-profit charitable organization, and is composed of four stores:  Angels in the Attic, Angels Boutique, Angels Furniture Store, and Angels Christmas Store. Also there is the Angels Donation Center where all donations first land and are processed.

Angels donates funds each month to support various charitable programs across Floyd County that feed the hungry, aid the needy, help children and the elderly, and provide for public safety.

The two financial documents below include the Donut Chart which is the easiest way to identify the amounts of funds sent to a variety of charitable organizations. The Angels Board of Directors make those determinations after deliberation.

The second document is the income and expense statement, a bunch of numbers, but it adds more light as to the operating costs of running the Angels enterprise. After all, we have to pay for utilities, insurance, building maintenance, telephones, lawn mowing, and more.  However, if one does a focus on two numbers, the total of supported programs compared to the total of all proceeds from sales, an amazing 82.6% of income went to supported programs.

There is a comparison set of numbers displayed for the first half of the prior year. The income was way lower, and you can remember the difficulties of staying open during the pandemic and the accompanying reduction of shopping.
