HALLOWEEN, THANKSGIVING, CHRISTMAS, FURNITURE, SIDEWALK SALE, AND VOLUNTEERS ARE IN THE NEWS
ANGELS FURNITURE STORE RECEIVED A DONATION THIS WEEKEND OF MUCH OF A HOUSEHOLD OF QUALITY FURNITURE
Many thanks to the family who thought of Angels and the volunteers with a personal pickup and trailer who delivered it to the store. In particular, there is a stunning, solid wood, high-quality table with 6 chairs and two leaves priced at only $200; a matching buffet for $100, and a matching hutch for $200. These are among the best quality items ever available in the Furniture Store.
Other items now in the store include a student desk in nice condition for only $30; a wide assortment of chairs in sets or individual; a Thule car top carrier for $50; and classroom chairs/desks for $8-10.
There are many other items that nearly fill up the whole Furniture Store, such as multiple sofas, tables, desks, former wood enclosures for TV and audio that can be repurposed for displays of your crafts, office desks, crutches and other mobility aids, stuffed chairs, bed frames, vacuum cleaners (you can plug in and test right there),
Hours are 9-2 on M, Tu, W, F, and Saturdays and the location is at the corner of Needmore Lane and Rt 8 in Floyd VA. Angels in the Attic is a non-profit charitable organization, as Floyd County Angels Ministries, and is composed of the Angels Boutique, Angels in the Attic, Angels Furniture Store, Angels Donation Center, and Angels Christmas Store.
WE HATE TO BE THE ONES TO BREAK THIS NEWS TO YOU, BUT IT IS TIME FOR THE ATTIC STORE TO PUT AWAY THE SUMMER CLOTHES AND BRING OUT THE FALL AND WINTER CLOTHING. OH NO! BUT, YEAR-AROUND FURNITURE IS SELLING AT THE ANGELS FURNITURE STORE
Be sure to visit our Angels in the Attic store soon. Starting Tuesday, September 11th, all summer clothes will be stored away, and an exciting collection of fall and winter wearables will be on display. Get ready for the change of seasons. You’ll find jackets, coats, sweaters, and boots, among other things. Come in and browse!
Whereas at the Angels Furniture Store on Needmore Lane, you can enjoy year-around furniture!! Many desks are in stock which can be used in your home office, and some have top surfaces which can be used for craft work or woodworking. Some are priced as low as $20.
Financial Statement and Pie Chart of Supported Programs is released for the year 2017 by Floyd County Angels Ministries Inc., the umbrella organization for Angels in the Attic Store, Angels Boutique, Angels Furniture Store, Angels Donation Center, and Angels Christmas Store.
For the purpose of transparency and full disclosure, here is the official financial statement for Angels, which summarizes the final results for all the efforts of the 80+ volunteers, also the volunteers of the Angels Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors makes the final decisions for which (of the many organizations in the area) can be supported by funds from Angels. There are some changes from year to year, as circumstances may change.
For the year 2017, an amazing 64.6% of all sales went to supported programs. The balance went to the expenses of the operations, such as insurance, water & sewer, electricity, repairs and maintenance. This incredible percentage is due to the support of a large team of volunteers who toil not only at the counters but behind the scenes sorting donations, trucking it to the stores, stocking the shelves and racks, pricing items, sweeping and dusting, and much more.
You will find copies of both documents posted in the window of Angels in the Attic Store, as has been the practice of the past few years.
ONLY 5 DAYS UNTIL THE LABOR DAY WEEKEND SIDEWALK SALE ON THIS SATURDAY SEPT 1 AT ANGELS BOUTIQUE 10 AM-2 PM. WONDERFUL WALL ART AND DAZZLING DISHES ARE FEATURED
Wall art includes paintings on canvas, metal, or wood, some with beautiful frames. There are two paintings of tigers (the mystery tiger in the shadows photo of a few days ago is now revealed). The dishes category includes vases, sets, plates, and platters. The photos below are but a tiny sampling of the many, many, items to give you an idea of the kinds of treasures.
These items are in process of being priced and dusted, so they are not available for display or sale until the day of the sidewalk sale. They are not accessible to me to provide measurements, because of that processing. So, plan for an outing Saturday and if you are especially interested in particular items, then be there at opening time. Art dealers and antique dealers are welcome, because of the especially low prices.
Angels Boutique is located adjacent to the Angels in the Attic Store in downtown Floyd, VA and is next door to the famous bluegrass venue, the Floyd Country Store (which has great food and ice cream cones, by the way), so don’t miss this great way to leisurely spend one of the three days of the Labor Day Weekend close to your home, whether it be in Christiansburg, Blacksburg, Salem, or Roanoke.
WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE ATTIC?
This photo taken a few days ago at Angels Boutique. What is a tiger doing there in the shadows? The photographer made it out OK. Keep a lookout here for an explanation next week.
LINENS GALORE AT THE ANGELS IN THE ATTIC STORE, FINE JEWELRY AT THE ANGELS BOUTIQUE
At this time, The Attic Store in downtown Floyd is stocked with lots of linens: sheets, towels, pillows and pillowcases, placemats, napkins, and tablecloths.
We have a small hamster cage and a ten gallon aquarium for sale. Aquariums may be used for fish, of course, but they also make cool terrariums. If interested, check with a volunteer.
Remember, CD’s are still 2 for 50¢, and video tapes are 5 for $1.00.
At the Angels Furniture store you may be interested in a collection of bike racks for sale. We also have quite a bit of exercise equipment for sale at various prices.
At the Angels Boutique, adjacent to the Attic Store, a recent arrival is an ornate Lois Hill sterling silver bracelet, very expensive at stores but only $75. See the photo below. Matching sterling earrings at $40 will be set aside until the bracelet is sold, in case someone wants the set (ask to view them).
Also at the Boutique is a custom necklace for $30, thought to be sterling, with a burgundy-like stone. The lime jacket it is posed against, is JonesNY only $8.
METAL, AND GLASS, COLLECTIBLES AT ANGELS BOUTIQUE ON SATURDAY AUGUST 4 FROM 10 AM – 2 PM DURING A SIDEWALK SALE. A HUGE COLLECTION.
On Saturday, August 4, we at the Angels Boutique will have volunteer cashiers out on the sidewalk (next to the Angels in the Attic Store in downtown Floyd VA), with our already low prices even lower on “Metal & More” (silver-plated, brass, copper moulds, black metal), plus “Clear & Colorful Glass” (decorative: bowls, creamers, vases, glasses, plates), many of which are vintage pieces. The regular Angels Boutique retail store will also be open for browsing during this sidewalk sale.
These can be gifts to yourself, for your home, or for friends and relatives, all the while each purchase supports the needy because Angels is a non-profit organization supporting local charitable groups. So save this date on your calendar right now: Saturday, August 4, 10am-2:00pm during and after the Farmer’s Market across the street!
You may have a young adult entering college this August. They may be setting up a dorm room or an apartment. Keep in mind all the items at the Angels in the Attic Store that will save you money and help to furnish a student’s living quarters: sheets, blankets, bedspreads, towels, dishes, flatware, pots, pans, knives and spatulas. At The Furniture store on Needmore Lane, you may find a bed-frame, desk, bookshelf, or night table.

We have some heavy-duty hotel/restaurant type china plates at 75 cents each. All are cream colored. There are around two dozen of them, eight of which are sectioned plates with a blue and gold ring. The others are oval shaped and plain.

Here are a few unusual items:
A variety of dance costumes, for women and girls. At this writing, there were two dozen or more. Some are dresses, some leotards and tops, all are sparkly and/or sequined.
A hamster cage. It is in a large box, filled with exercise equipment, tubes to run in, and other hamster accessories.
Is there a wedding coming up? Or a party? Check out our huge supply of stemware and other glassware. Unless priced otherwise, they are 25¢ each.
Backpacks. No one is ready to think about August and school, right? But if you have lots to get ready for that first day, you can start with a backpack. The Attic has lots and lots of backpacks, at $1.00 each. Shop early for best selection.
