What’s Up in the Attic – 4th of July and much more

July 4.  Angels in the Attic store will be open Saturday, July 4th, maintaining its usual hours to serve the community as well as visitors. Volunteers are giving part of their holiday for charitable purposes, so by stopping in to the store, you can show your appreciation.

New Angel Figure.  The next time you are walking by Angels Boutique during open hours, take a look at the remodeled and restored 4 ft tall wooden angel at the entrance, thanks to a local artistan who volunteered her services.

Need Doll Restorer. Would you like to restore antique dolls? Angels needs a volunteer to apply their skills, with flexible hours. You can phone during open hours, come in to the store, or email us (see Contact Us section of this website)

Vouchers. As of July 1, vouchers for Angels in the Attic purchases will be available only at New River Community Action, for people who qualify. The Department of Social Services will no longer be handling this process as of that date. This change will streamline the process.

What’s up in the Attic – Breaking News

STATUS OF ANGELS CHANGED TO A SEPARATE ORGANIZATION

We are very pleased to have received our very own non-profit 501c3 status from the IRS as of January 2015 and now operate as Floyd County Angels Ministry, Inc. Prior to this we were operating under the umbrella of the non-profit 501c3 of Floyd County Cares, Inc. This IRS code continues us as a tax exempt entity, meaning that we are not taxed by the IRS on the monies that we take in from our sales. We are required, however, to pay sales tax to the State of Virginia and this is why we collect the 5.3% sales tax on the merchandise that you purchase.

SALE AT BOUTIQUE – UPSCALE AND VINTAGE GLASSWARE

On Friday June 19 from 10am to 7pm and continuing on Saturday June 20, 2015 from 10am to 4pm, the Angels’ Boutique will host a sidewalk sale of upscale and vintage glassware. 20% off! Rarely does the Boutique offer a sale, so be sure to stop by and select from numerous bargains.

DONATION CENTER CLUTTER GONE!

We are very pleased with the appearance of the porch and driveway at the Needmore Lane Donation Center. For such a long time we had heard so many negative comments regarding the donations that were piled in front of the mini barn and on the porch. Our volunteers there, under the leadership of Priscilla Whitlock, have worked tirelessly to sort and prepare the merchandise for sale in the Attic and Boutique. Not only has this improved the appearance of the Needmore Lane location, it has given us a greater variety of great merchandise to offer our customers in the stores.

NEW LOOK IN ANGELS IN THE ATTIC STORE – COME IN AND SEE

The Attic has a new look. Displays were rearranged, clothing racks lowered, shoes given a room of their own, audio and video supplies have a more spacious display area and the children’s area is super having a room all their own with a great display of games and toys and spacious shelves and racks for clothing and other items. If you haven’t been in to see the “new look” we hope you will stop by soon to see us and shop the many great areas with prices that have been reduced. Sales are featured periodically as well, so keep watching this page.

STORES HAVE NEW ENTRY DOORS – EASIER FOR CUSTOMERS

If you have visited the Attic store recently, you will have noticed that we have a very attractive, new entrance door. Not only is it attractive, it opens to the outside bringing us in compliance with the Fire Safety Code. The Boutique is looking forward to a new door as well in the next week or so. Watch for more improvements in the coming months!

ITEMS IN ANGELS BOUTIQUE INTEREST ANTIQUE DEALERS

It should also interest Floyd County residents, and tourists, too. The Boutique has great summer clothing, designer dolls, cut glass dishes, and so much more. Seeing is believing, and antique dealers are welcome to shop. The Boutique is a great place to find that special gift you might be searching for.

HELP WANTED – VOLUNTEERS

Take a look under “Volunteering” on this website. Thank you to all our faithful volunteers, well over four dozen in all, but more are needed to cover all the needs of the three parts of Angels – the Attic Store, the Boutique Store, and the Needmore Donation Center. No matter if you prefer to work behind the scenes, or prefer meeting the public, there is a spot for you where you can be of service to the community.
